Happy New Year 2010…enjoy the view

It’s zero degrees outside and there’s tiny piles of snow scattered randomly everywhere with more snow waiting to fall down. This is where I’m holed away while editing more beautiful weddings from the Margaret River summer so far. Funny how it’s the holiday season and I’m really enjoying the break as it allows me to focus and catch up on work without the distractions of back home. I’m just outside of Vienna in Austria and have been promised real snow this weekend so I’ve got my film camera with me along with rolls and rolls of black and white film, I’m in heaven! It’s been a tough few months personally with lots of changes happening around me and I’m going to make more of an effort to just stop sometimes and remind myself how beautiful life is… and take more pictures of pretty things.

So while I’m in catching up mode, I promise to put up some more blog posts from some very special weddings soon.

Happy holidays!

Christiane + Roald = Wedding Part 2

Christiane & Roald had a First Look before their wedding ceremony at the registry office, which meant we had heaps of time for photos before and afterwards…. at the lake, old bathing house, the railway tracks and even the mosquito-infested swamp! They were such good sports and I had far too much fun – spot the behind the scenes photos.

Favourite things: 1920’s theme, seeing each other before the ceremony, a warm summer’s day, breaking with tradition with Roald taking Christiane’s last name, games at the reception, lanterns lighting up the night sky and a honeymoon roadtrip.

Christiane + Roald = Wedding Slideshow

Christiane & Roald = Wedding Part 1

So the marriage proposal was supposed to go something like this: Roald had been waiting patiently back home in Germany while Christiane had been away studying in Hong Kong for months and months. In her absence he realised that she was the one he wanted to marry and he planned to propose to her in a way that both reflected her jetsetting ways and how much he missed her while they were apart. So he made a handheld sign to hold up at the arrivals area when he was due to greet her at the airport. He wrote Christiane on one side of the card, just like a chauffeur or tourguide would have, and as she walked out of the gate with her bag and noticed him waiting for her, he was going to turn the sign over to display what he had written on the other side – Willst Du mich heiraten? [Will you marry me?]

Then, Christiane arrived home a few days early to surprise Roald for his birthday. So after they cooked dinner one night Roald proposed in the living room instead…

…Their wedding took place in a gorgeous town called Bad Saarow [Bahd Sah-oh] just out of Berlin. Guests came from all over the country and the world to see this lovely couple tie the knot. In the lead-up friends and family came together to help set up the reception, shoes were scuffed while practicing the Bridal Waltz, delicious food was baked, old photos of grandparents on their wedding day were found and for the Hen’s day the girls went on a bike ride and picnic around the lake while the Buck’s party involved leading Roald on a paper trail through the town ending in rumours of Polish strip clubs…

Availability and updates

It’s coming up to winter escape time and I thought I’d better mention that I will be out of town (for a little bit of work and hopefully lots of play) from August 7 to September 30. I’ll be returning all email and phone enquiries when I get back, but if you have an urgent enquiry please sms me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I’m also no longer taking any wedding bookings for next summer 09/10 but still have some availability for 10/11. For help with your wedding planning head to www.mrbg.com.au which is a handy directory for wedding vendors and services in the region.

I’ll still be working while I’m away so will update the blog with some European wedding images and hopefully lots of fun travel stuff too. And for all you Singaporeans I do have room for another Paris bridal shoot around Sept 14-17th so please do contact me soon if you’re interested.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Margaret River Fine Art Photography Blog…. I had a little “accident” with the old one and so decided it was time for a change! Older posts will be added to the archives soon and new work will continue to be updated as the hectic summer season winds down and I get on top of post production.

You’ll notice some sponsor links as well, these are all services located in the Margaret River region which you might find useful for your next visit down this way. Or if you have a service you would like to share on this site please contact me directly.

Enjoy the new blog which has a few extras on the way in the coming months. I’m currently working on some new sample albums and lots of gorgeous wedding images that I will share with you soon.
